Kilmainhamwood 2-13 : 3-11 St. Brigid's

In what must go down as a superb game of football, Kilmainhamwood were narrowly edged out by their opponents in what was a pulsating game. The Wood started brightly with an excellent Stephan Kiernan (inset) point before a goal and a point put the Bridget's in the lead. However the Wood hit back quickly as Harry Corbally was fouled for a penalty which Kiernan netted. The Wood then started to get on top as Kiernan continued to kick some exquisite points. Then after 15 minutes a good run from Emmet Clarke found Kiernan with a pass who slapped it onto the on running Alan Carolan who calmly placed it into the bottom of the net. However the Brigid's fought back towards the end of the half with the score 2-7 to 2-5 at the break.

The Brigid's started of bright in the second half and the sides were level soon after. However Kiernans right boot kept the Wood in touch as both teams would go tit for tat in the second half. The men in Navy looked to have turned the tide with ten minutes to go but a fine Micheal Shankey point and another from Paddy Carolan pulled the Wood back in front. Two more superb frees from Kiernan who put on an exhibition of scoring (finishing with 1-10) looked to have eeked the Wood over the line. But deep into injury time The Bridgits kicked some scores to snatch a last second one point victory.

Best for the Wood were Andy Farrelly, Alan Carolan and Stephen Kiernan.

Kilmainhamwood: Damian Russell, Bernard Reilly, Philip Moran, Jude Collins, Alan Carolan (1-0), Emmet Clarke, David Carolan, Gary Yorke, Declan Reilly, David Russel (0-1), Andy Farrelly, Paul Carolan, Stephen Kiernan (1-10), Paddy Carolan (0-1), Harry Corbally. Kilmainhamwood 3-10 - Drumcondrath 1-11

Kilmainhamwood ran out deserved winners in this north Meath derby and ended a bad run of losses in the league.

The men in white and blue started off brightly as David Russel kicked the opening point, before two Steven Kiernan points left them three up before the visitors could register their first score. A fine finish from David Russell saw the Wood get their first goal before a brilliant pass from Steven Kiernan set up Paddy Carolan for his first goal to leave the Wood 2-3 to 2 points to the good. Drumcondra fought back and kicked the next three scores before three fine points from Steven Kiernan, Gary Yorke and Andy Farrelly left the Wood with a seven-point advantage at the break.

Drumcondrath started off brighter at the start of the second half and registered the first two points before a second Paddy Carolan goal put the Wood eight points to the good. The two sides then traded points before a Drumcondrath goal with ten minutes to go left just five between the sides and the game was back on as a contest. But another Steven Kiernan point and a fisted effort from David Russell in the last few minutes meant that Drumcondrath would never breach the five-point gap.

Best for the Wood were in defense, David Carolan and Cathal Benneth and in attack David Russell

Kilmainhamwood 0-12 : 1-12 Clonard

Kilmainhamwood put in a hard performance versus Clonard on a glorious Saturday evening but were unable to come away with a result.

The Wood started brightly with an Alan Carolan point before Clonard slowly turned the game and lead by 5 to 1 after 20 minutes. The Wood however fought back and two David Russell (inset) points followed by a point from Paul Carolan and a free from Gary Yorke saw the sides level at 5 points apiece at half time.

The Wood then started brightly in the second half as an early David Russel point and a brilliant score from Declan Reilly saw the Wood start to dominate the game. Clonard pulled one back before a turnover led to a counter attack goal which put Clonard two in front. Gary Yorke kept the Wood in touch with some magnificent free taking and the score read 1-10 to 10 with 7 minutes remaining. The Wood squandered and excellent goal chance soon after. Points from Andy Farrelly and David Russell were equaled by Clonard as they were able to maintain their one goal advantage for a close victory.

Kilmainhamwood 2-7 Kilbride 0-14

Kilmainhamwood got their division 4 season off to a poor start with a one-point loss to Kilbride.

Kilbride started off the brighter with two good scores, before Kilmainhamwood began to completely dominate kicking 6 scores without reply, as David Russell, Micheal Shankey and Paddy Carolan all scored two points. However, Kilbride got back into the game with three late points to leave the Wood just a point up at the break.

The Wood dominated the opening exchanges of the second half as Micheal Shankey kicked a good score before David Russell punched a great goal from a pass from Paddy Carolan. Kilbride dominated the rest of the game kicking the next six points in a row to leave them a point up with five minutes remaining. David Russell looked to have won the game for the wood when his shot looped over the keeper and ended up in the back of the net. Once again though, Kilbride came back strong and kicked the final three scores to eek their way past the north Meath men.
